Café Winklstüberl in Fischbachau

The Mairhofer family has run the café since 1950. The cake counter holds Prinzregententorte, Käsesahne, Holländer Kirschtorte and more, all made on the premises. More than 900 coffee grinders hang in the rooms.

For children there is a children’s menu, toys and a playground. Some people spell it “Winkelstüberl”; it is the same café in the hamlet of Winkl.

The café is not part of the Meisterhof. Opening hours, the menu and the cakes of the day are on the café’s website, and the café itself answers questions about tables or celebrations.

From the farm to Winklstüberl on foot, by bike or by bus

The café lies about 4 km south of the farm in the hamlet of Winkl. On foot, part of the way runs along Leitzachtalstraße, so with small children the bus is often easier.

Regional bus 352 runs from the stops “Hundham, Funk” and “Hundham, Marienplatz” without changing to the stop “Winkl, Cafe Winklstüberl” right by the café and on to Birkenstein. With the guest card, which you receive from us after you arrive, the bus is free. Departure times are in the MVV journey planner.

On to Birkenstein and up the Breitenstein

From the café it is another 2 km on foot to Birkenstein and its pilgrimage chapel, about half an hour. The normal route up the Breitenstein (1,622 m) starts there and climbs past the Kesselalm to the summit in about two hours.

That way you can combine the mountain with coffee and cake at Winklstüberl, before or on the way back. More walks from the front door are on our page Hiking from the farm.

Your base in the Leitzach Valley

After coffee and cake you are soon back at the farm. The Schliersee and the Wendelstein are about 20 minutes away by car, the Tegernsee about 30 minutes.
