You can walk up the Schwarzenberg straight from the farm, and the Breitenstein and Wendelstein are only a short drive away.

From the farm you are soon at three lakes, at the Wendelstein and in Birkenstein. Most places on this page are a 10 to 30-minute drive away, and some you can reach on foot. With the guest card you travel by bus and train in the region for free, and many places offer free or reduced entry.

Many tours start at the front door. We have written separate pages on where to go on foot and by bike, and on what the guest card saves you.
If you come by motorbike, the Sudelfeld Pass (20 km) and the Tatzelwurm (28 km) are about half an hour away, and a garage is included in the price.

By bike you can ride through the Leitzach Valley to Birkenstein and Bayrischzell, and there are tours for mountain bikers too.

It lets you use buses and trains in the region for free and gives you free or reduced entry in many places.

Between days out, the children play here at the farm. There is a football goal on the meadow and a big trampoline, and pedal go-karts and other pedal cars are ready for the children to use. You will find more about what the farm offers children, including the cowshed, on the family holidays page.

Three lakes are a 20 to 30-minute drive from the farm. With the guest card you can also get there by bus and train.

The nearest lake lies at 777 m. There is an inn on the small island of Wörth, and from May to September a pleasure boat runs every day. You will find several bathing spots on the west shore.

High up among the mountains at 1,084 m is the Spitzingsee. Paths lead up the Rotwand, the Bodenschneid and the Brecherspitz from here, and the Taubenstein gondola saves you part of the climb.
The car parks at Spitzingsee are excluded from the free parking that comes with the guest card.

Gmund, Tegernsee, Rottach-Egern and Bad Wiessee lie on the shores of Tegernsee. It is close enough for a day by the lake with a walk along the water.

Two railways go up the Wendelstein (1,838 m). The rack railway starts in Brannenburg and has been running since 1912, which makes it the oldest rack railway still in service in Bavaria. The cable car starts in Bayrischzell-Osterhofen and climbs 932 metres in six and a half minutes.
At the top you will find the Wendelstein chapel from 1890, the highest church in Germany, and an observatory. The Wendelstein cave is open from May to November, weather permitting. The guest card gives you €2 off the return trip.
From May to early November, bus line 349 also runs a loop around the Wendelstein, free with the guest card. You can climb the neighbouring Breitenstein on foot, see the hiking page.

Birkenstein lies about 6 km south-east of the farm at the foot of the Breitenstein. The chapel was built in 1710 as a copy of the Holy House of Loreto and consecrated in 1786, and pilgrims still come here today.
With the guest card you park for free at the hikers’ car park in Birkenstein. The path up the Breitenstein and the Leitzachtaler Bergblicke circular walk both start there.
You can stop for food and drink in Fischbachau, in Birkenstein and at the alpine huts. The regional tourist board keeps a list of huts and mountain inns.

There are two outdoor pools nearby, and the guest card gets you into both for free. You can also cool your feet in the Leitzach, and there are several bathing spots on the west shore of the Schliersee.

The village pool has a 62-metre water slide, a paddling pool for little ones and a heated hall for cooler days. It is open from about mid-May to mid-September, and entry is free with the guest card.
The outdoor pool in Bayrischzell is also free with the guest card. It lies at the top end of the Leitzach Valley.
You can walk from the farm down to the Leitzach, and on warm days it is lovely to paddle in the river.
A rainy day is easy to fill, and much of it is free or cheaper with the guest card. Since August 2025 a former ventilation tunnel of the Hausham coal mine has been open to visitors in Deisenried near Fischbachau.
