Cycling and Mountain Biking in the Leitzach Valley

In the Leitzach Valley you ride on quiet paths with little climbing, for example to Birkenstein and Bayrischzell. If you want more climbing, there are signposted mountain-bike routes around Fischbachau. At night your bike stays in the garage, which is included in the price.

Through the valley to Birkenstein and Bayrischzell

It is just over 5 km from the farm to Fischbachau, and about 16 km to Bayrischzell at the top of the valley.

Between Bayrischzell and Birkenstein the regional tourist board has signposted the Birkenstein route, an easy loop with little climbing via Osterhofen and Geitau. It suits trekking and gravel bikes and is meant for families too. Halfway round you pass the Birkenstein pilgrimage chapel.

Lake Constance to Königssee cycle route

The long-distance route from Lake Constance to the Königssee is 455 km long and signposted in both directions. Around here it comes from Tegernsee via Gmund, Hausham and Schliersee to Fischbachau, and then carries on towards Bad Feilnbach and the Chiemsee.

For a day trip you can follow it from Fischbachau to Schliersee, and fit riders can go on as far as Tegernsee. Between Hausham and Tegernsee the route is hilly.

Along the Schliersee

Schliersee is about 13 km away. From Schliersee station a valley path runs along the west shore, via Neuhaus and past the Josefsthal waterfalls to Aurach and on to Bayrischzell, about 18 km in all.

The first part is tarmac, and between Aurach and Bayrischzell there is hardly any climbing. You come back the same way, or take the Bayerische Regiobahn train from Bayrischzell.
